Pricing rules
Limits a rule cannot cross
Limits that hold whatever a rule works out.
Whatever a rule works out, its limits are applied afterwards. A suggestion that would break one is moved to fit or left out, and when a limit changes a price, the suggestion names it. You set them in the Limits section of the rule editor, and an empty box means no limit.
What you can set
- Lowest margin: the least profit you'll accept, as a share of the selling price, worked out from your cost per item.
- Biggest change at once: the largest move from the current price, as a percentage of it.
- Don't mark down stock newer than: how many days stock must have been in your store before it can be marked down.
- Lowest price and highest price, in your store's currency.
- Price endings: end in .99, end in .95, round down to a whole number, or keep the exact price.
The order they are applied in
New stock is checked first, so a product too new to mark down gets no markdown at all. Then the lowest and highest price and the lowest margin, where the strictest one wins. Then the biggest change, so a floor can't push through a bigger move than you allow. Price endings come last, and the result is checked against the floors again.
Price endings round down
A price ending always rounds down: 30.10 becomes 29.99, and a price that already ends in .99 keeps it. If rounding would take a price past your biggest change, the app moves it one step back toward today's price, and uses the exact price if that won't fit either. Rounding never takes a price under your lowest margin.
Why new stock is protected
Anything that arrived last week looks slow next to a 30-day sales figure, simply because it hasn't had time to sell. Marking it down is almost always the wrong reaction, so every preset that marks down leaves stock newer than 30 days alone. This only holds back markdowns. A rule can still raise the price of new stock.
Setting a lowest margin
Set it to cover what a product really costs you: the cost per item plus shipping, packaging and anything else you pay. A suggestion that would go under it is never offered.
Keeping a product out
Tag a product no-discount and no markdown preset or scheduled sale touches it. The fast mover preset skips products tagged no-increase, and the target margin preset skips no-repricing. You can add your own tags to any rule's Leave out products with these tags.
